The Rusty Patched Bumble Bee was the first bee protected under the federal Endangered Species Act. Wisconsin is one of only nine U.S states that still has active Rusty Patched populations, and only 21 counties, mostly in southern Wisconsin, have active Rusty Patched bee sightings. This makes our backyard conservation efforts in Dane County absolutely critical in helping prevent the extinction of this native species. The collection of plants in this bundle create pollen and nectar sources from late April through October to help both early spring and late season bumble bee queens.

Ecological Benefits

Rusty Patch Bumble Bees, other bumble bee species, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Landscaping Tips

Perennial beds and borders. Keep plants close to each other in your yard to help bees detect your pollinator patch. The Anise Hyssop and Culver's Root will get bushy and can use 1'-2' spacing if you'd like the plants to spread.
